What is non-surgical skin tightening?
Wrinkles, laxity, and sagging in the skin are a direct result of collagen and elastin depletion. Skin Tightening with the ReFirm™ ST procedure combines safe and effective levels of infrared light and bipolar radio frequency energies to remodel the dermal layer of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth. Both lasers and radiofrequency have been used for decades successfully in medicine and surgery, but the ST exclusively combines the two for ideal treatment outcomes with minimal downtime.


What are the target areas?
Jowls, neck, cheek, face and brow are usual target areas for improvement as well as the abdomen and upper arms.


Will I have downtime?
This is a non invasive procedure. Most people leave the office with only slight pinkness or no pinkness at all. Clients can return to work immediately.


Can I combine the skin tightening treatment with with Photorejuvenation or Fotofacial?
Combining the Refirme ST procedure with skin rejuvenation is an excellent approach since it addressees the texture/laxity issues while addressing skin irregularity issues simultaneously. Clients are highly satisfied when combining both procedures.

Refirme ™ is safe on all skin types.


How many treatments will I need?
Improvements of skin texture and laxity occur over a series of 3 to 5 treatments for most patients. The number of sessions may correlate to the degree of laxity or textural damage the client has.


How often are the treatments?
Usually four treatments about one to three weeks apart.


Does the treatment hurt?
No. The procedure is very well tolerated by most patients without any topical anesthetic or any other means of analgesia. The treatment tip is chilled for added comfort. Our Synercool ™ technology is also available for maximum comfort in sensitive areas.


How long does each treatment take?
Each session is typically 30 to 60 minutes.


Who are the best candidates for this procedure?
All skin colors can be treated for laxity, sagginess, loss of elasticity or textural irregularities. Individual client candidacy must be discussed with our medical practitioners.


Can I remove all wrinkles with Refirme™?
Sometimes there are factors involved other than collagen such as the case with deep folds or dynamic wrinkles caused by chronic movement of underlying muscles. These situations are better treated with other procedures such as Botox® or Restylane®.


Are there any risks to treatment?
ANY medical aesthetic procedure has risk of side effects such as superficial blistering, and pigmentary changes to the skin. These risks are very rare and usually quickly resolved.


How do I prepare for the treatment?
We both share a responsibility in the success of your treatment.

1. Avoid skin irritation or tanning prior to treatment. Always use sunscreen when outdoors during daylight.
2. Discontinue any irritant topical agent for 2-3 days prior to treatment.
3. Arrive treatment with clean skin – no lotion, make up, perfume, powder, bath oil, etc.
4. Advise medical practitioner if there are any dental crowns, caps, braces, or other metal dental implants. These areas may be sensitive and the medical practitioner would take the appropriate steps to make the treatment comfortable.

What do I need to know after treatment?
We both share a responsibility in the success of your treatment.

1. Protect area with SPF 30 or higher sunblock.
2. Avoid tanning for several days following treatment.
3. Some redness and swelling may occur. In those cases cold compresses may be used to reduce the symptoms.
4. Wash area gently and avoid harsh and/or abrasive products for three days. 5. Do not expose the area to excess heat for three days. In the unlikely event of a blister call Natura Medspa.
