Allergan, the company that brought us Botox and Juvederm are now introducing a new member of the filler family; one that is uniquely designed to add long lasting volume to the lips! Miami locals, as well as most of the nation have been going crazy for full lips over the past year, making this treatment one of the most popular in the aesthetics industry. Juvederm Volbella is still made from hyaluronic acid, like other fillers, in combination with Vycross- minimizing effects such as swelling, bruising and pain. This injectable is meant to provide a long-term result of natural-looking volume. Volbella can even be used superficially on other areas of the face to help treat crow’s feet, and other lines and wrinkles.
How it Works
This injectable works much like its relatives, in the sense that the HA solution enhances collagen production and provides instant volume. Volbella also contains Lidocaine, so that pain is minimal to nonexistent during the treatment. Allergan truly kept patients in mind when creating this solution! Swelling after Volbella is actually rare, compared to other fillers by Allergan, where swelling is almost a guarantee. This solution is also injected with much more ease than other gel-like fillers. There is also little to no downtime with this treatment.
The results of Volbella are expected to last at least 12 months, but of course individual results may vary. Meaning, you may find your results lasting longer or shorter than the 12 month period. The side effects are mild and should subside on their own within a couple of days. Common side effects include what one might normally expect with an injection, such as minor bruising, swelling, redness and soreness. During your consultation, you will be given instructions on how to further minimize these effects via steps you can take before and after the treatment. After your Volbella injections, you may proceed with your daily activities, though you may be asked to refrain from vigorous activity; such as going to the gym or other exercises and movements that strain the muscles.
