My absolute favorite treatment is cheek correction with fillers. The reason this is my favorite treatment is the many benefits it provides for the patient. When you restore the lost volume to the midface (aka the cheeks) it lifts the entire face and reduces the appearance of looking tired and rundown. It also often corrects the smile lines (nasolabial folds), lower face sagging (jowls), and the groove/line that extends from eye to mid-cheek (nasojugal groove) that is responsible for making a patient look tired. When filler is placed properly in the area, the results leave the patient looking refreshed, rested, natural and more youthful.

Lisa was born in Lexington, Kentucky but considers herself a Florida girl as she has lived in south Florida since she was 3 years old. Lisa grew up in Florida and went to school at Westminster Academy. She graduated with both her bachelor and master Degrees with Highest Honors from Nova Southeastern University. She has always had a passion for taking care of others which naturally lead her to a career in nursing. She began her career in nursing as an emergency room nurse at Holy Cross Hospital where she was nominated by her peers for Rookie Nurse of the Year. From there, she continued her education and found her ultimate passion in aesthetics. Getting to combine her passion for taking care of others and her love of the arts is apparent in her attention to detail, exuded with every patient she treats. Lisa loves to travel, have good food and wine, her dog and to laugh often.

Tips From Lisa Our Nurse Practitioner

Lip tips:
Avoid eating or drinking anything spicy after having lip filler. I have found that over the years my clients that have the most profound post lip injection swelling had ingested peppers of some form. This creates an enhanced inflammatory response resulting in excessive swelling to the treatment area. Avoid spicy and salty foods/beverages for 2-3 days after receiving filler treatment to reduce your post procedure swelling.

What is a microcannula and why do I love it?
A microcannula is a blunt/round tipped instrument used to place filler instead of using multiple needle injections to place filler. The reasons I prefer to use this method instead of the traditional needle are as follows:
1. Traditional needles create more trauma to the skin therefore, causing the potential for more bruising and swelling after a treatment.
2. For safety, injection into a blood vessel with filler is less likely to occur using a microcannula versus straight needle.
3. The majority of patients report having less discomfort during their treatment when the microcannula is used versus multiple needle injections.

I have a big event coming up, when should I get my Botox? I have a big event coming up, when should I get my Xeomin?
We all want to look our best before any event, right? Of course, but when is the right time to get treated with neurotoxins and dermal fillers? My rule of thumb is to plan to get treated with neurotoxins about 1 month prior to your big event. Why? Because it takes 2 full weeks to see the results of your neurotoxin. It also takes on average two full weeks for bruising to resolve. This allows for the practitioner to have you come back in for your two week follow-up and perfect your treatment with a touch-up treatment prior to your big day. Therefore, allowing an additional 2 weeks for any touch-ups to kick in and any bruising or swelling to heal. Doing this will set you up for the best results for your event.

How can I minimize my chances of bruising during my treatments?
Avoid taking any NSAIDS for a week prior to treatment. What are NSAIDS? Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Naproxen, Advil, and Aspirin. Also, avoid taking fish oils, CoQ10, St. John’s Wart, Gingko Biloba and Garlic Extract. Additionally, avoid alcohol of any kind a few days before your treatment, especially red wine. Also taking either arnica tablets, bromelain tablets or drinking lots of pineapple juice can help prior to your appointment.
