What Is the Nefertiti Neck Lift?
There are many options available today to help reduce the signs of aging in your face. From dermal fillers and creams such as Radiesse, Juvederm, and Versa to wrinkle relaxers like BOTOX® and Xeomin®, there are almost limitless options and methods for you to choose from. As we age, the visible signs of aging on the neck include sagging skin, waddles, creases, and wrinkles. When it comes to reducing the aging signs from your neck, however, there have been limited non-surgical treatment options — until now.
In today’s post, we’ll take a look at the Nefertiti Neck Lift and the non-surgical option it offers to reduce the signs of aging in your neck. Different Signs of Aging in the Neck
Neck wrinkles can appear horizontally or vertically. When the lines go side-to-side across the neck it is sometimes referred to as “tech neck” because we crease our necks to look down at our cell phones. On the other hand, the appearance of vertical neck lines is called platysma bands because the platysma muscle, found at the front of the neck and under the chin, pulls down on the skin and causes the skin to stretch vertically from the jaw to the clavicle.
What Xeomin® Can Treat
At Natura MedSpa, we are able to treat both vertical and horizontal neck bands non-surgically with a series of injections. Xeomin®, also known as incobotulinumtoxinA, is a neuromodulator that can improve the appearance of vertical neck bands by relaxing the platysma muscle when injected into the neck region. It is also a popular choice for smoothing away wrinkles on the forehead, in between the eyebrows, and for reducing crows’ feet around the eyes.
What Radiesse® Can Treat
The appearance of horizontal necklines can be improved with injections of the dermal filler Radiesse® along the jawline. By injecting Radiesse® along the jaw, the skin is pulled slightly upward to soften the vertical necklines. Our medical practitioner may also recommend Radiesse injections at the midface to gently lift the cheeks up.
An added benefit of Radiesse® is that it stimulates your body’s collagen production over time. Combining Xeomin® injections in the neck with Radiesse® injections at the midface and jawline can produce results that are more natural-looking and create a younger, more youthful face, neck, and jaw. This procedure is also known as the “Nefertiti Neck Lift.”
Natura’s Nefertiti Neck Lift
The Nefertiti Neck Lift gets its name from Queen Nefertiti who has been long admired for her beautiful neckline and bone structure. The Nefertiti Neck Lift is a non-surgical procedure that rejuvenates the jaw and neckline for a younger and more contoured appearance. To achieve a Nefertiti Neck Lift, we administer a series of injections of Xeomin® and Radiesse® to tighten the skin around the jawline. Xeomin® is then injected along the lower jawline and down the side of the neck along the platysma muscle. This process helps relax the underlying muscles and provide lifting throughout the neck and jaw area.
The platysma is a thin sheet of muscle around the neck that pulls the skin downwards. Xeomin® relaxes this muscle and softens the appearance of neck creases and wrinkles. An aging neck can add years to your appearance. By electing to receive the Nefertiti Neck Lift, you can significantly reduce neck wrinkles, neck bands, and soften your jawline.
Who Is a Candidate for a Nefertiti Neck Lift?
Clients usually begin noticing a sagging neck and jawline in their mid- to late-40s. If you have noticed a mild to moderate jowling and skin laxity around your jawline, then you may benefit from a Nefertiti Neck Lift. Significant signs of aging in your neck or a neck with excess fat and loose skin will probably require surgery to achieve your desired results.
Although most of our patients are very happy with the results of their treatment, the off-label use of botulinum toxin A is not a replacement for surgery and is definitely not a “facelift in a bottle.”
When Will I See Results?
Muscles that are targeted with Xeomin® injections take three to seven days before they will show signs of relaxing. The lifting effect of Radiesse® injections is immediate. You may continue to see a gradual improvement in the targeted areas for up to a month after a Nefertiti Neck Lift.
How Long Does a Nefertiti Neck Lift Last?
A Nefertiti Neck Lift that used Xeomin® should provide results that last between three and six months. Results from Radiesse® injections last approximately one year in most patients. The results of the Nefertiti Lift will slowly begin to decrease after the fourth month. For a lasting result, the treatment will need to be repeated approximately every four months.
Possible Side Effects
The most common side effects from the Nefertiti Neck Lift may include mild bruising and swelling for a few days. We suggest avoiding nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or anything that has a blood-thinning effect on the body for at least one week prior to receiving your injections. It is also helpful to take arnica and/or bromelain tablets, which should help with reducing pain and inflammation. Plan to use these tablets for a few days prior to treatment as well as a few days following your appointment.
